In the old fairgrounds arose imaginative and colorful pavilions, while nearby, stylish hotels built up overnight. There were balloon rides, blimp tours, monolithic ball games, along with quiet garden spaces, nightly concerts and fireworks out by the shimmering river beacon built for the event. The fair is long gone now, but the memories live on in a postcard retrospective created in February of 2003." |
