FREELAND PARKS & REC

Welcome to the Freeland Federal Park & Game Reserve.
Located in the North Country of the Great Freeland Forest.
Designed and constructed by Redsneezy & Sons Construction Company, October 2001.
PARK INTRODUCTION
City Limits
Freeland Federal Park
& Game Reserve

The swampy wilderness north of the Freeland city limits has often been thought of as
an eyesore by many sims. There had been many plans to level the land and adapt it for aquaculture, however several special interest groups worked together to protect the old
growth forest. They lobbied for federal protection for the wilderness and to keep it off-limits
to developers. Developers, protestors, and bureaucrats kept the matter in the courts for a
long time.

Eventually the land was set aside by the SimDepartment of the Interior and funding was granted to clean it up. Redsneezy & Sons Construction Co., Inc. was granted the contract to dredge the swamp and make a real lake, and then to put in a few businesses that would be privately run.

The Freeland Federal Park & Game Reserve is now open to the public. There are swimming beaches and marinas for the new lake, and camping and hiking trails for all those that love the wilderness. There are a number of lovely specialty shops, and even a buffalo ranch. It appears to be the big Memorial Day and Labor Day family vacation spot for next summer.

Some words about the project from Mr. Redsneezy

Freeland City Globe [Oct.17,2001]
Today we at the Globe were pleasantly pleased to be able to get an interview with none other than Mr. Ichabod "Big Bad Red" Redsneezy and here is how it went:

Globe: Mr. Ichabod Redsneezy, we here at the Globe would like to thank you for giving us a few moments of your time.
Redsneezy (BBR): Well thank you for having me here, but please just BBR - thats what most folks call me.

Globe: Well then BBR, what was the biggest influence on putting in a bid for the new Federal Forest and Game reserve.
BBR: Ever since I moved to Freeland and then moved my corporate offices here I have wanted to do something for all the folks of and visitors to Freeland. When the Sim Nation said that they wanted to turn that swampland just north of Freeland into a Federal Park and was looking for bids, that was my opportunity. Well I knew I would get it because I bid it at cost!

Globe: Bid it at cost, but why?
BBR: That was my chance to be able to do all the little extras that other wise would not be done.

Globe: By extras would you elaborate a little more please.
BBR: Yes I will, you see when I first saw the federal plans for the park about all that I saw was boat ramps and a few swimming beaches, a couple of fishing areas and that was it. Well that was just not good enough for Freeland, no Sir, not good enough at all. First of all I thought it would be a good thing to have a Welcome Center that has Nature tours every two hours during the daylight hours. Next, why just have boat docks, why not also have a little bait store and a very fine restaurant with a swimming beach and a small playground for the kids. I mean kids dont spend all the time in the water, so a playground for when they werent. After all this was to be a family place wasnt it? Then there is a nice little specialty mall with some very quaint shops; plus a full service Texaco station that can do everything from a tire repair to a full service on your vehicle, up to a major overhaul! You cant forget the five star Steak House with its little walk around park and right across the street, the very large campground area with its big swimming pool. And what about that Buffalo Ranch with its easy access for all people to see them! These are the extras that I was talking about. OH and dont forget that it was me that got the Federal Forest Service in there by building that big office, tower and docks with a heliport.

Globe: Well Im sure that the people of Freeland really like it, but all that money just for summer recreation, wasnt that going just a little overboard?
BBR: Oh its not just a one season park, but a four seasons park. Just think, this winter there will be ice fishing, ice-skating, snowmobiles, and all sorts of neat things to do all year around!

Globe: I would like to ask you a very sensitive question if I may?
BBR: Sure I have nothing to hide, go for it!

Globe: Rumors had it about three months ago that you were using federal funds to build your Llama Ranch, is there any truth to the rumor?
BBR: Why land sakes no, why would a man of my means have to resort to shaving funds from the federal park to build my ranch? After all I build the park at cost so what would I have to gain. That would be like stealing from myself wouldnt it? That rumor started from a person that has not got a life yet and nothing else to do but start something on somebody and I will not lower myself to drop names!

Globe: I want to thank you for your time and giving us the interview - it was really very pleasant talking with you.
BBR: You're very welcome young lady and dont forget to go and visit the park at your first chance!

Globe: One last question if I may - what are your plans for the near future and what will be your next project?
BBR: HAHAHA, that sounds like two questions, as for my plans for the near future, I would say just to stay busy. As for my next project, well lets just say it is a big one but definitely top secret. I promise you though, that when I get ready to bring it out in the open I will give you the exclusive interview.

Visitors Guide

Welcome to the introduction page for the Freeland Federal Park & Game Reserve. We hope it will give you a little history of the place as well as be the home of future letters from visitors to the park.

Your next stop along your virtual park journey should be to head over to the Big Map.
The link, along with all other FFP links is found at the upper righthand corner of this page. Once there you will be treated to the a view of the biggest multi-tile project ever undertaken in the simworld. At over 250 5x5 tiles, it takes up the majority of space in a small city. To present that we had to make a page big enough to show it properly, so please allow time for the images to load and you won't be sorry.

Next, head over to the download center at Redsneezy's to take home the latest section of the massive project. While you're there, please take note of the alternative to featured downloads - you can
purchase a CD containing
the entire park, as well as many other items for a total
of 170 MBs worth of fun.

Any questions or comments should go directly to the address located on the download zone page.
