Has it been a whole year? Seems like we just began this journey into the unknown last week! In fact though, it began in the Summer of 2000 when i created a little tile called "Freeland Nurseries" and sent it to the SimCity Exchange. |

After a couple more like this, i began to think about creating a city named Freeland. In November of last year, bzrburns, couchpotato and i began to discuss the idea of turning this city into a website as well. Over the following weeks we were joined by berserk666, birch23, boxershorts, dullemond, sfbarry and superdeluge - some of the finest "bappers" in the game. On December 15th 2000, we opened for business with a modest idea to offer SimCity building enthusiasts a place to find our custom details, paints and props in a setting that simply mirrored the feeling of SimCity itself. |
Who knew it was going to take off so far from that simple starting point? It has been an amazing experience to have had the opportunity to work with so many good and hard working people - doing all of this for free and for the love of the game and the creative process itself. The fact that we have never met each other makes this one year anniversary even more eventful. What makes it still more special is you, the visitor. You are all Freelanders as well. |
You are the reason we are motivated to keep going. The reason to search for new ideas and perfect old ones. The reason to be here at all. Because you have been such a vital cog in this whole adventure, we have put together a little present for YOU on this our One Year Anniversary. |
