2001 was good. 2002 looks great.
THE FUTURE OF FREELAND |
A brand new Freeland Visitors Center will open. Renovation of an old factory on the edge of the Civic District is nearing completion as the finishing touches are being put into place in preparation for the upcoming new year. Unlike the previous Vistors Center, this new one will be equipped with everything the Visitor to Freeland needs, including links to hotels, special events and tourist attractions along with all of the connections to the places you have come to know well. |
Coming this winter if all goes as planned, another reopening will take place in the form of the Freeland Museum of Architecture or FMoA. Joining the staff there will be Eduarqui, an Architect and Professor from Brazil who will assist in bringing the real world of Architecture to Freeland through links and tutorials. Along with this new focus, we will also bring you exhibits of the great designers and buildings from the SimWorld and continue our earlier tradition of themed shows from our visitors. |
The City of Freeland hasn't been available on the site since the closing of the Worlds Fair, but will be after an extensive Reconstruction Project by the Freeland Public Works Department. New bridges and subways, an improved park system, a much needed pollution cleanup program, a revamped Waterfront, a brand new Arts District on the grounds of the of the Fair, better connections to Freeland Maxscot International Airport as well as our neighboring villages and towns, a new City Hall and an overall Aura Uplift are in the works according to the Mayor. |
The Chamber of Commerce has been planning improvements for a long time now - will this be the year? The biggest undertaking proposed by the CoC appears to be a product index which will allow visitors to see at a glance where they can go looking for that special window, tree or car. Ad space for the member businesses is being considered as well for those who want to contribute to the organization's site fund. Of course, the best news may be that several new businesses are planned! |
Even as Freeland celebrates its One Year Anniversary with a nostalgic look at times gone by, The Futurists Club at Comco77 is preparing to rock the SimWorld with an array of customs, buildings and cities exploring the unknown spaces and places of the Future. Founded by Artaxis, a pioneer in futuristic SimWorld buildings, the club hopes to show off some of their efforts this January - new members are always wanted though, so if the future is your thing, head on over to Comco77 now and fill out the short form. |
Could it be true? There is rumor spreading quickly through the streets of Freeland that a Sims Shop will be opening in the city sometime this Spring. Word has it that the Mayor is waiting for a very inportant phone call from an expert in these website mixing situations. Already known for having many Sims items converted for SimCity usage, will Freeland now be a home for Genuine The Sims items? Could happen! Stay tuned and we'll let you know as or if it happens. |

The very talented Bapper, Vanderaap, will be opening up his own business in Freeland at some point in the near future. Many visitors should already know his excellent buildings at the SimCity Exchange, soon we will all be treated to his growing collection of custom addons - meanwhile, look for his contributions to the Freeland Village Anniversary Project. Welcome to Freeland, Patrick! |
